Cotabato City, December 14, 2022. A signature event virtually launched a new growth area of exchange between Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat Islamic Academy Foundation, Inc., and Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya.
The first party is internationally recognized as UNUSA in Indonesia. The second party is popularly known as SKIA College in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Philippines.
UNUSA hosted online on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding signing with SKIA College for “Friendship and Cooperation, Promotion of Mutual Understanding, Academic, Cultural and Scientific Thought and Personnel Exchange”.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Achmad Jazidie, M.Eng who serves as University Rector represented UNUSA. Lawyer Datu Michael O. Mastura, who is SKIA President and CEO, signed the five-year agreement on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Islamic (wakaf) Foundation college.
“UNUSA has a number of MOUs across the country up North and now in deep South,” said Dr. Jazidie citing “access to information and exchange as an experiential learning in peace and development cooperation.”
Atty. Michael Mastura applauded UNUSA leaders for “reaching out to a small college in Mindanao,” humbly adding: “There’s nothing to fear as to the continued success and sustainability of our institutions of higher education.”
University Vice Rectors Ir. Muhammad Faqih, Ph.D., and Drg. Umi Hanik, M.Kes were present at the signature event along with Dr. Ubaidillah Zuhdi, Dean of Business and Economics and Digital Technology.
The MOU was initiated by SKIA Dean of the Faculty Abdul Aziz Bandar Basag together with Ms. Syddatul B. of UNUSA Planning and Cooperation Development Affairs. Both are named Liaison and Coordinators.
Among the online attendees were VP for Academic Affairs and Administrator Lourdes Salma V. Mastura, VP for Finance and Business Datu Ismael V. Mastura, Dean of Student Affairs Abdulkadir A. Mangelen, MAEd Dean of Interdisciplinary Programs, Ameir R. Abdulmaguid, Ph.D, Director of Islamic Studies Ustaz Abdulrahim H. Sangkua, Rahima Abas Mastura, Executive Assistant for External Affairs and Edris B. Mastura, MAEd fmr. Senior High School Principal.
