The Student Media Society presented the seminar “Basic Photography Essentials and Mobile Photography” at the SKIA Auditorium from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN last November 3, 2024. Students attended a seminar on the basic principles of photography applied to the use of mobile phones and cameras.
The seminar began with an opening prayer followed by Opening Remarks from the SMS Advisor, Bai Zam Zam C. Datumanong, as she set the direction for learning on that day. Then followed was the introduction by SMS President Juhayber Engcang as he introduced the Guest Speaker, Sir Aiman E. Talusan, LPT, citing his vast knowledge in the field.
He really gave a very intensive introduction to basic photography fundamentals. These included composition approaches such as the rule of thirds, exposure-the combined aspects of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO-in natural and artificial lighting setups, and focusing techniques. A session on mobile unique factors and the basic operational properties of digital cameras will be included.
An open forum was conducted after the lecture, wherein the attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with Sir Aiman. The participants were also awarded certificates for their attendance. Lailah Abpit, SMS Assistant Advisor, closed the event with a summary of key points and appreciation to all those who made it possible. The event ended with a closing prayer and a group photo session.
The seminar was an enriching experience for all concerned, with a clear introduction to basic photography concepts of both mobile and digital cameras in an accessible manner. Through this well-structured programme, participants were ensured with a solid foundation in essential photographic skills.
