September 16, 2022 – Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. The Continuing Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Student-Grantees of the Sultan Kudarat Islamic Academy (SKIA) Foundation College were grateful to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) – Unified Financial Assistance to Tertiary Education (UniFAST) for the successful release of their subsidy for the 2nd Semester, Academic Year (AY) 2021-2022.
SKIA College successfully distributed the TES stipends to its 463 continuing student-grantees together with their parents on September 16, 2022 at its Auditorium. The TES payment covered the current 3rd Year to 4th Year College Students of the academy including its graduates in the previous year.
SKIA student-grantees expressed their gratitude to the CHED – UniFAST team for their untiring efforts and successful delivery of the TES program.
“Thank you to CHED – UniFAST for implementing this program effectively because it helps the students in fulfilling their dreams”, said Ms. Jasmin G. Tamayo, one of the student-grantees of the academy. “Though it may be insignificant for other students, for us who do not have enough means to continue our tertiary education, this program gives us courage to pursue our goals in life”, she added.
The parents of the grantees also extended their sincerest appreciation to the CHED – UniFAST for the continuous implementation of the said program.
“Kami po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng CHED – UniFAST sa kanilang patuloy na pagsusumikap sa pagsasakatuparan ng TES program”, said Mr. Mansor D. Arsad, one of the parents of the grantees. “Ang TES program ay malaking tulong sa aming mga magulang sa pag-aaral ng aming mga anak sa kolehiyo sa kabila ng kahirapan sa buhay”, he added.
Meanwhile, the said payment did not cover yet the SKIA New Grantees or the 1st Year College Students and Transferees during the AY 2021-2022. CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera requested an additional funding for the CHED 2023 budget to cover the subsidy of the New TES Grantees for AY 2021-2022.
TES is one of the programs under Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) of 2017 signed by former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. It is granted to college students enrolled in Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in areas without State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) or Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) and those from families of Unconditional Cash Transfer Program.
